Chances are you’re heading to the port to hop on a ferry to the famous Greek islands. Piraeus Port is the busiest port in Greece and is even busier during the summer. This is why it’s important to plan ahead in order to avoid a stressful arrival and the inevitable crowds. When travelling from Athens Airport to Piraeus Port, you have four modes of transportation to choose from; taxi, Athens Airport transfer, bus or metro.
Taking an airport taxi is the fastest and most convenient transfer option, taking around 40 minutes and costing €60. If you’d rather save some money, the cheapest option is the bus as tickets only cost €6, but the journey can take over an hour and a half. The final transfer option is the metro. This mode of transport costs a little more than the bus but the line is direct and gets you to the port in about 1 hour.
